I recently had microneedling done on my face and loves the results. Prior to my microneedling I had very large pores however they are barely noticeable now. I am worried that after a few months they will go back to how they were prior to microneedling. Is there anyway to permanently shrink pores?
Answer: Microneedling for Pore Refinement Thanks for your question – it’s a concern brought up by many of our patients. Pore geography and number is genetic and can not permanently be altered, however the appearance of the pore size can be changed. As you know the pores in our face change as we age and much it is due to external factors such as the environmental damage and nutrition. Pores often look large due to two things: 1) they’re filled with dirt/oil and 2) overabundance of proprium acne bacteria, and 3) loss of elasticity. Microneedling can definitely help reduce the appearance of the pore size by helping to increase the collagen/elasticity of the skin and pores and we often recommend a series of treatments (3-5 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart), followed by yearly maintenance of 1-2 treatments in order to maintain your results. We combine our microneedling with RF (radio frequency) to stimulate at much collagen production as possible. We also like ot use multimodal therapy with use of fractional lasers for surface collagen stimulation, BBL intense pulse BLUE light therapy to decrease bacterial counts and hence sebum oil production, and finally sculptra injections for biostimulation of deeper level collagen production. I also recommend use a retinol product to help skin turnover and, as always, wear sunscreen every day!

Answer: Microneedling combined with radio-frequency can help minimize pore size. Pair with other laser trretamnets Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Microneedling and pore size I am glad you got great results from your microneedling. I recommend doing one or two treatments once a year after your initial series in order to maintain the results. You should also make sure to always wear a good, physical block sunscreen (I like Elta MD) in order to prevent the sun from reversing the effects of your treatments.

Answer: Will microneedling help permanently my pores size? Microneedling is a great solution to improving pore size, scars, wrinkles and collagen stimulation. I recommend three to four sessions and a touch up a couple of times a year because as we age we make less collagen.

Answer: Microneedling to minimize pores Microneedling stimulates collagen and tightens pores. As collagen ages it becomes looser and pores are more evident again. Maintenance microneedling 3 to 4 times a year will continue to improve pores. Retinols will also help.
