If there are no apparent results 5 weeks after having BodyTite done on the stomach, is it likely that it did not work?

If you had liposuction and BodyTite performed at the same time, it may be much too early to assess the results.

I suggest you wait at least 6 months to see your results. Evidence suggests that Bodytite will result in a 40% improvement in skin  tightening at 1 year. Just like any procedure, results will vary from one patient to another as well as from one physician to the next. I agree that at  6 weeks there should be some degree of improvement seen visibly. Thank you for your question. Body tite works by using a radiofrequency wand to heat the internal and external temperatures of your tissue to a specific temperature. It works to shrink wrap the skin by stimulating new collagen growth. This remodeling phase can take up to a year. Because it works slowly, its hard to see improvement on a day to day basis. In our office, we take serial photos and have noticed that most patients are starting to see a nice result at 3, 6 and 9 months. If you had preop photos taken, I would recommend asking for another set at 3 or 6 months. That will give you a more accurate idea on how you are progressing. Because the result depends on your own body regenerating collagen growth, everyone is different. With BodyTite, results take some time. 5 weeks is still very early for BodyTite. While the results of BodyTite can be very good, it can definitely be a delayed gratification procedure and requires some patience. Some of the best results form BodyTite start to appear at 3 months and by 4-6 months you should be seeing some of the best outcomes from the procedure. 

Most patients notice a big jump in the appearance of their abdomen at 3 months. The results continue to improve with time, but if you are older and your skin is looser, your results will not be as impressive as a younger person with better skin elasticity

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to answer your question without more information such as how much fat was removed and the degree of swelling you are experiencing. The tissue tightening has been shown to be progressive over a 6 month period so I would expect you will see improvement in the coming weeks and months as swelling recedes and tissue tightening occurs. In our office, we generally get pictures at 3 and 6 months following a BodyTite procedure.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

There are 2 mechanisms occurring here. Shortening of vertical fibers in the skin and a slow build up of collagen and elastin in your skin.  The latter can take up to 6 months. Concurrently, the effectiveness of this treatment is dependent upon the tightening potential of your skin: this decreases with age.
Since this is not a fat loss procedure, measurements may not be sensitive for results here. I would wait the 6 months to see if you get the skin tightening effect.

BodyTite tightens and tones fattening, wrinkly and loose skin that doesn’t go away with diet and exercise alone. Using fat coagulation and volumetric heating technology, BodyTite works in multiple ways to treat the affected areas. It is a minimally invasive device that patients are typically very satisfied with. Recovery is usually 1-2 days but can be up to 10 days depending on the person. Patience is a must though, as it takes about 6 months to one year to see results. You will not see results after 5 weeks, as there still may be some residual swelling. Please wait another year or so to see optimal results!
