I have been an avid weightlifter for 15 years and my body is accustomed to working out (5 days on, 1 day off is my routine). I know it will be some time before I can start squatting, deadlifting, weighted ab exercises, etc., but to do light arm exercises using cable machines, doing chest press machines, etc., am I looking at days? A week or two?
Answer: Resuming exercise after Bodytite Normally exercising can be resumed a few weeks after liposuction/Bodytite procedures. Most of the time there is not a weight restriction with Liposuction, but you need to take it easy and work your way back into your routine. It is good to start with cardio and lighter weights once you are feeling up to it. Once your tenderness and swelling starts to go down, you can advance a bit with your workouts.

Answer: Lower back BodyTite and lipo: how long before lifting light weight again? Thanks for this question as it is a very common one since most of us try to maintain an exercise regimen pretty regularly. You are admittedly an avid exerciser and work out more than the average person but the following factors will affect how much "down time" you will have:1. Type of anesthesia: if it's done under local anesthesia (awake), the recuperation is much shorter2. Amount of RF (radiofrequency energy) deposited. Your surgeon will discuss how much energy will be needed depending on the soft tissue laxity you have.3. How much fat is removed and how large an area to be treated is. Even though the amount of fat isn't always a large volume (for example, in fit individuals who want high definition lipo), a relatively large area still needs to be treated in order to have a contoured, feathered and natural appearing physique.4. Your activity level preoperatively. Patients such as yourself who are extremely fit and used to working out tend to get back to their daily activities more quickly. Older patients with other medical issues who are less physically fit will take longer, as expected.5. Other factors such as prescription medications, pre-existing conditions and general tolerance for discomfort will also figure inAll this being said, most people will get back to their exercise regimen within two to three weeks of surgery once they start easing in with walking the next day, perhaps light stretching within a week and 1/4 to 1/2 intensity workouts in the several weeks thenafter. This is a great question for your surgeon during your consultation.

Answer: Having lower back BodyTite lipo and would like to know how long it will be before I can resume light weight lifting. If the liposuction is conservative, you may be able to go back to working out in a short period of time. Whenever there is more liposuction performed and more fat is removed, the time period will be longer. You really need to ask your surgeon about this as this will differ surgeon to surgeon. Answer: Resuming activities after RFAL (BODYTITE) You can begin upper body exercises whenever you feel like it. In most cases about 1 week. Start your routine off slow and less weight and gradually work yourself into it. Let your body be your guide with respect to the degree of exertion.Regards, Dr. Ravi Somayazula Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery- American Board of Medical Specialties Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)- Subcommittee Task Force on Patient Safety Member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) Member of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, Harris County Medical Society

Answer: BodyTite Thank you for your question. I recommend staying away from strenuous physical activity for at least 1 week after having BodyTite. Please consult your provider and always seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.
