Local plastic surgeon said I am too skinny, have too flat face and it is highly possible that after placing the implant the difference will be striking. He would suggest to use hyaluronic acid fillers instead. What do you suggest? If I gain weight (~10 Kg ) are odds better it will look ok after op?
Answer: Cheek implants versus filler. Hyaluronic Dermal fillers are a good starting point as they are temporary and give you the results of a cheek enhancement with out the commitment of an implant. There are also longer lasting fillers such as Voluma, sculptura, radiesse and Bellafill that can be used to create more defined cheekbones. Fat transfer is also an excellent way to enhance the cheekbones and is permanent. I perform cheek implants in cases where there is an extreme flatness to the cheeks. I verify placement with a camera to maximally it ensure symmetry. I suggest an in person consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial aesthetics to review all your options for optimal results.

Answer: Contouring the Cheeks- Cheek Augmentation (Voluma, Bellafill), sculptra, implants or fat It's difficult to tell you what your final results will be with cheek implants. HA fillers would be a good option so you can try on the look before commiting to a permanent option. Well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra can all be used to create visible cheekbones. I recommend getting a formal consultation with a facial contouring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: What are the odds that cheek implant will look unnatural? Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years. Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation. Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face and body beauty, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces. Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front. Cheek augmentation with a dermal filler or using cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face. There are many sizes and shapes of cheek implants, however in my humble opinion there are few that provide the proper aesthetic shape. Even when the proper shaped implants are chosen, they must be properly placed in order to create a more naturally, attractive face. For that reason, it's paramount to find the most experienced Cheek Implant Surgeon that you can. We have many international Cheek Implant patients. The aesthetic "mis-steps" often seen after cheek augmentation with cheek implants are from the wrong size/shaped implant or the wrong placement of the implant in my opinion. Hope this helps.
