Can bruising from surgical bra cause issues in the future? (Photos)

Thank you for your question and photos. It is not unusual to experience some bruising after breast augmentation surgery. It is most likely not caused by wearing surgical bra. Also, tightness may also be experienced as the tissues around the implants are still swollen following the surgery. It will resolve over time.

However, if you experience significant change in the size of your breast and that the bruising persists, it is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Thank you for your question.  Actually, it probably wasn't the bra that caused the bruising.  There was probably bruising in the deeper tissues, and it just took a few days to reach the surface.  Wearing the bra shouldn't affect anything.  I recommend you continue to follow closely with your plastic surgeon and follow their instructions.Best,Dr. Michael EpsteinMAE Plastic SurgeryNorthbrook, IL

It  is unlikely that a surgical bra will have any effect on bruising, and the support should provide comfort as you heal. Post procedure questions are always best run by your surgeon who knows your situation well.
