Hi @Bkbaby! Thank you for sharing your photos. I would recommend 6-8 units of Botox. Best of luck to you.
Treatment for chin dimpling ("pebble chin" or "orange peel") is Botox injected into the mentalis muscle. This typically gives great improvement to the appearance of the chin. Results take about 1 to 2 weeks. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Botox would be an ideal treatment for both the "orange peel"-type dimpling of the chin seen on motion (i.e. dynamic wrinkles), as well as the "bar code" lines seen above the upper lip. Only a few units would be needed to treat each. However, a longer-lasting effect can be achieved if a small amount of volumizing filler were added to smooth the chin and a skin booster used for the upper lip region. In my NY practice I would choose Voluma XC for the chin and Restylane Silk for the bar code region. In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved injectable products are available, I would opt for Neauvia Intense Flux for the chin and Viscoderm Hydroboosters for the upper lip region. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck.
Please watch the video below. I try to explain some key aspects of the technicalities of using or getting botox. It really does make a difference who is injecting, how much and where it is injected. It is one of those treatments that unfortunately has become a commodity and it really requires a bit more of an artistic finesse approach in my mind. We use the neuromodulators to target and soften the muscle groups without giving that frozen look. Hope this helps,Best of luck,DrC
Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs Bkbaby. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. The most common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, the vertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and the crow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles. It is difficult to make an assessment without a formal exam in the office where I can view the skin in multiple angles and observe wrinkles formed with facial expression. However, I hope the information provided here is useful.Although Botox is most commonly used in the upper face, it can also be used in various areas in the lower face. Botox can be placed in the mentalis muscle on the chin to address a cobblestone appearance or dimpling on the chin. In this area 2-8 units of Botox are used.If I had a patient with the concern described here I would say she is a good candidate for the treatment described above using 2-8 units. With any injection, there are risks such as pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We take special precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usually resolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usually resolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. In addition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporary asymmetric smile. After a Botox treatment, I recommend that my patients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of these activities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent side effects such as droopy eyelids. Although there have been no definitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do not provide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the side of caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Great question! Botox or Dysort will help your "orange peel" go away. Depending on the patient- we typically inject 4-8 units in the chin. I hope you will try it soon! I bet you will like it!
Botox is a great treatment for chin dimpling, even the upper lip. Botox is injected into the mentalis muscle in the chin. This typically gives great improvement to the appearance of the chin. Botox locks the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Botox essentially paralyze the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results from these treatments are visible within 3-7 days with results that can last anywhere from 3-4 months. Typical amounts injected into the chin can vary, amounts can range from 4-10 units.
Thank you for your question. For the chin area, botox is injected to minimize the dimpling appearance seen on movement. A good starting point is 4-6 units. After ~2 weeks, the area can be reassessed and further added if needed. Best,Dr. Pooja Chitgopeker
Typically I start slowly with Botox in the chin area. Your chin does not show much “dimpling” without motion so treating that area may not even be necessary. However if you want to pursue having it treated, i would use about 6 units initially.Best wishes,Pamela Stuart MD
Thanks for your question. You don't really need to inject the Botox in the chin as the wrinkles are only seen with motion. However, there is likely some preventative help in them... especially for the upper lip lines. The upper lip usually takes just a few units to help soften. The chin somewhere around 6 units for starters. Always start low and add units if needed. Best of luck, Dr. M
