Masseter Botox made it so I cannot smile. Can I reverse this? Please help (Photo)

Hi @ochiexx, I am sorry to hear this experience. It is possible that the botox was inadvertently injected into one of the smile muscles and is therefore impacting your smile. The masseter is closely related to the Risorius, which is a muscle that elevates the corner of the mouth during smiling. Unfortunately due to poor technique or just bad luck the Botox has diffused to involve the Risorius. You will have to wait it out, it should resolve in a few weeks to months and should return to normal.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are having from your Botox treatment. Unfortunately there is no reversal agent for neuromodulators like Botox. The effects of the treatment will wear off gradually over the next few months.

Botox, Dysport or Xeomin can be a very effective means of slimming the masseter muscles and edging you toward a more feminine lower face. This injection requires a thorough understanding of lower face anatomy. Unfortunately, it sounds like your injector deposited Botox too anteriorly and inadvertently injected the risorius muscle bilaterally. This would affect your ability to smile. Unfortunately, there is no way to reverse this and you will have to wait until the Botox naturally wears off. You should see improvement in several months. Unfortunately, Botox may be injected too close to muscles adjacent to the masseter muscles or may have spread a bit.
Either way, Botox slowly wears off so it may be several weeks to even a few months for the effects to completely resolve.

Botox may have inadvertently gotten into adjacent muscles causing your smile to change. With more time passing the look may change and will eventually be restored. The dose given is not unusual. Hopefully if it was injected to reduce pain from grinding your teeth or headaches you have at least benefited from less discomfort. Botox injected into the masseters is not expected to affect under eye bags. Discuss with your doctor and compare photos.
