Hello. Great question. Using a icy hot patch one week before surgery should not affect your procedure. I will suggest contacting your surgeon as everyone has different pre op protocols. Good luck with your procedure.
Dear Compassionate8936,Every surgeon has variations in their pre-surgery protocol. For my patients, I advise they stop any blood thinning medications 1-2 weeks before surgery. All herbal medications should also be stopped unless they are reviewed by me personally. I do not operate on smokers due to the high risk of complications in tummy tuck patients. Regarding an IcyHot pack, I would not have any issues.Good luck,Nirmal R. Nathan, M.D. Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgeons
It will be fine for you to use an Icy Hot Patch a week prior to surgery. Good luck with your tummy tuck!
Thank you for your question. Placing an Icy Hot patch should not be an issue. With that in mind, you're most likely in some sort of discomfort, so be sure to stay away from and blood thinners. Hopefully the topical numbing of the patch resolves any discomfort. I would still recommend asking your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon as he/she may have different protocol. Good luck and best wishes!

If you are noticing the drainage not slowing down you want to examine your activities. Be sure that you are following your surgeon's post operative instructions regarding activity. Wear your binder if indicated. Keep in contact with your surgeon about your drain output for other advice.
I always thought that plastic surgeons were the only ones who actually cared about the shape/ size/ appearance of the belly button. But no, some patients do too! I reckon overall it's probably a good sign if you're concerned with your belly button after a tummy tuck...it hopefully means the...
The suture abscesses can be treated by your surgeon in the office. They tend to heal well with minimal home care once the suture material is removed. Occasional discomfort is not unexpected as you are still healing, however if it is severe or constant an evaluation by your surgeon is needed. I...
