2 weeks post-op from TT & lipo 360, still draining 100cc/day. Anything I can do to help reduce drain levels?

Thanks for your question. There is often more prolonged drainage when liposuction is combined with a tummy tuck. Liposuction requires the addition of tumescent fluid and continues to drain until there is no more. I generally remove drains when they are less than 30 cc in a 24 hour period.  While your surgeon will want you walking and deep breathing to minimize the risks of blood clots and pneumonia you have to find a balance. Sometimes too much motion can slow healing and increase drain output. Share your concerns with your PS, but it sounds like the wait will be over soon.Best wishes.

Hello Laura.Great question. I will suggest starting slow on your daily activities. No long distances. Keep wearing your garment. Follow your surgeon's post op instructions. Good luck with your recovery.

Unfortunately there’s nothing that you can do to speed up the process of drain removal after a tummytuck. I would continue to wear your abdominal binder as instructed. Sometimes it’s more comfortable if you put gauze/tissues under the drains on top of the skin so the drains aren’t rubbing and causing blisters. Best wishes 

If you are noticing the drainage not slowing down you want to examine your activities. Be sure that you are following your surgeon's post operative instructions regarding activity. Wear your binder if indicated. Keep in contact with your surgeon about your drain output for other advice.
