Hard lump in nasolabial fold 5 days post fat transfer, does this look like edema or necrosis? (Photo)

Question

The left side of my cheap only in last day developed into hard lump although there was always a bruise. On my right side of face no bruise and no lump. Is it too soon to start worrying this could be necrosis? Also if edema how long on average will it take to resolve?

firstly, i would contact your doctor for any concerns about  infection or necrosis- secondly, it takes about 10 days to heal after a fat transfer and bruising can show up after a few days. Palpable lumps usually go away after a few weeks

So whichever it is its is likely to settle over the next 2-4 weeks. Massage will help. Necrosis tends to be a little warm to the touch but otherwise don't worry. If it shows signs of infection (hot and painful) then antibiotics may be needed Hope that helps, Adam Goodwin

The hardness may be related to swelling and at this point, you will have to let it "play out" and see how things settle.  Best to review with your surgeon.
