I had a hair transplant and 3 days after I hit the right side of my recipient area there was a lot of blood. (Photos)

Question

After I hit my head against the top of the car door really hard. My head started bleeding around the right side of my recipient. Upon my head bleeding, I looked at the paper towel afterwards and I saw about 4 or 5 hairs that fell off. Over the course of 7 months the area doesn't have any hair growth my doctor told me to wait at least 10 months to see if any hair growth in the area. Will my hair will regrow where i hit it or do i need to get a touch up judging from the photos.

It is true that a patient should wait 10-12 months after having a hair transplant to see full results. However after reviewing your photos. It does appear that there is very little action occurring in the exact area where the large scab was located. I know you only found a few hairs on the paper towel but there may have been many grafts buried in the clotted blood that became the large scab. I don't know how close you are to the clinic where the procedure was performed but that should have been cleaned up right away to possibly avoid this situation. There is a good chance you will need a touch up in that area.

Fram the appearance of your head on the photo, you have lost some grafts in this area. I warn patients that bumping their head after a transplant is the only reason I have ever seem a patient post op on an urgent basis. I give all patients my cell phone number, and once or twice a year, I am back in the office in the evening after the staff have gone home, reinserting displaced grafts after a patient has bumped their head. By the appearance of the dried blood, it is too late to put your grafts back in, so you will likely need a touch up in this area in 4 to 6 months,Dr. Robert Jones

You more than likely bumped more than 4-5 grafts out of your head. In fact more probably came out while it bled so much. At 10 months in my opinion most of your yield is there and you should have seen something in that spot since everything else seemed to have come in. You will need to add to that area.

Yes, it looks like your mishap resulted in loss of some grafts.  I agree with waiting a but longer for things to settle and the skin in the area to recover.  You can then decide if you want just a touch-up in that area, or if you want it done during a second procedure.

I would say that you did some damage to the area of the transplant where you bumped your head. You do have to be very cautious with the transplanted grafts for the 1st 7-10 days and you can easily dislodge them. I would suggest that you follow up with your hair transplant surgeon and discuss a "touch-up" in this area.

From the pictures, I am concerned and would want to see you myself if I were your doctor. I would want to comb and wash out the hair where that blood clot appears to be to see what is below it
