I had 480cc implants did 11 years and I’d had 2 children so I thought it was time to change my implants and get a possible uplift, my surgeon convinced me I didn’t need a lift and just a considerably bigger implant and we discussed between 700-1050cc implants and he said he would put what was needed and what he thought would be best. He put in 1050cc, 7 days po was the first time I got to see them and I was so excited for the big reveal. I was so shocked nothing what I was told to expect.
Answer: 4 months post op I see your before and after photos, and there is a big change. How long prior to your last surgery were these before photos taken? If they were recent, then your results should have looked very similar to your before photos, just larger. If the before photo that you have provided is a great length of time prior to your recent surgery, then I think we are not being given the complete overview of your transition from where you started and where you ended. As it stands right now, based upon your after photos, it looks like a breast lift should have been recommended to elevate the entire breast and the location of the areola/nipple. If you wanted to avoid a lift completely, then going larger and possibly putting your new implants in front of the muscle may have been the surgeons only option. It is best to speak with your surgeon about your feelings and disappointment that you are experiencing. If you feel that it would benefit you, perhaps speak to a few surgeons to discuss your concerns and how to get you to the results that you are wanting.

Answer: BA results Dear stephanielapham,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Bigger is not always better Bigger implants do not eliminate the need for a breast lift, if you need a breast lift. You've just discovered for yourself that this is a fact. I would recommend downsizing those implants and having a true mastopexy.Best wishes,Dr. Kavali

Answer: Are my results ok Hi and thank you for the question. You are the only one who can decide if the result you have is good for you. If you were looking for a substantial change and like the result then I think the result is fine. However, if you are overwhelmed by the size change and were not expecting it then maybe you shouldn't be happy with it. I will say that I see this approach all too often from surgeons who either don't like or don't know how to do a nice breast lift. I think the issue you will be dealing with soon is that large implants are heavy and are associated with a higher revision rate. The weight of your implants is going to stretch out your skin much faster than smaller implants. I suspect you will eventually end up having to switch to smaller implants and get a lift. Best of luck to you. Dr West
