I have a protruding top lip & the space between my nose & lip seems wider. Botox lip flip works well but only lasts 4 weeks. I had lip filler 15 yrs ago around my mouth borders but I believe it made my top lip protrude & caused lumps in my bottom lip so I stopped. A nurse suggested I may have leftover filler & recommended dissolving it. Is the protrusion from old filler or my natural shape? Should I try filler again & if so, what technique would you recommend?
Answer: Filler It's not possible to say for sure if you still have filler present in your lips but if you were examined and your injector thought there was some present then there very well may be. If you still have filler present in your lip that has migrated you can have it dissolved with hyaluronidase. You then can consider starting over with filler if you are wanting more volume or lip shape enhancement.

Answer: Addressing Concerns with Lip Fillers: Solutions for Protruding Top Lip and Residual Filler When it comes to addressing concerns about lip fillers and changes in lip shape, several factors need to be considered. Here's a general approach you might find useful: Consultation with a Skilled Injector: Since you have a history with fillers, it's crucial to consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic injectables. They can assess whether the protrusion is due to residual filler or your natural anatomy. Assessment for Residual Filler: If there is a suspicion of leftover filler from previous treatments, an ultrasound or manual examination can help determine its presence. If residual filler is found, it can be dissolved using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers. Considerations for New Fillers: If you decide to try fillers again to achieve a more balanced and desired lip shape: Technique: A conservative approach with a focus on the overall harmony of your facial features is recommended. Techniques such as micro-droplet injections or using a cannula for precise placement may reduce the risk of lumps and provide a more natural appearance. Product Choice: Choosing the right type of filler is important. Some fillers are designed to provide structure and volume, while others offer more subtle enhancements. Alternative Treatments: Since Botox lip flips have provided satisfactory results for you, discussing longer-lasting options or combination treatments with your provider might be beneficial. Regular Follow-ups: Regular follow-up appointments can help monitor the results and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you achieve and maintain your desired outcome. Ultimately, working closely with a skilled professional can help you achieve the best results while minimizing potential complications.

Answer: Lip lift Yes, your top lip is overfilled and protruding anteriorly. You would benefit from dissolving the fillers and then a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes. Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Lip fillers and duck-like protruding top lip Thank you for your question and including pictures. First of all, the chance of filler from 15 years ago still being there is pretty slim, but not totally impossible. I would try dissolving whatever can be dissolved. The next best option would be the Russian Lip filler technique. But be sure you go to someone who is very experienced with this technique.
