Hi I'm 52 years old and would like to know if fat dissolving injections actually work and if so how many sessions would be necessary for me? I'm not sure if it would be successful enough for the outlay.

Thank you for your questions. A fat dissolving injection called Kybella does work. It's a great non invasive option for the submental fat area (under the chin). I recommend consulting with your local service provider for an in person assessment. They will determine if you're a Kybella candidate, or if there are other options that are better for your concern. Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with Thermage, Ultherapy, and Exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin and can be performed with a neck lift, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

     Based on the photo I actually think Kybella would be a good option for you. You appear to have minimal skin laxity and submental fullness. Kybella usually involves 3-6 appointments, depending on the amount of fullness you have. Each treatment will involve up to a week of swelling/bruising/discomfort/numbness in the submental area. I would discuss your goals with an experienced provider for more information.

Hello and thank you for your inquiry. Kybella is a non-surgical treatment that is very effective in decreasing submental fat and contouring the jawline. My patients are very satisfied with treatment results even after their first treatment but see better results with a second or third treatment, which is standard. It would be best for you to schedule an appointment to properly be assessed by a doctor. Most likely you will need 4+ vials.  Amount depends on your goals and if you are wanting your jawline contoured.

Thank you for your question. Fat dissolving injections/Kybella are very effective at decreasing submental fat and contouring the jawline. My patients have seen great success with two to three treatment sessions. An in-person consultation will help determine the best treatment course for you.  At our clinic we like to follow Kybella treatment with diamond polar radiofrequency treatment to further enhance results. It is very important to know there will be significant swelling following the procedure.

My patients have seen excellent success with Kybella injections.  Kybella is particularly attractive because it is a non-surgical way to get rid of double chins.  It is an injectable acid that is specifically formulated to be effective on the submental fat (double chin fat).  It permanently destroys the fat cells under the chin.

Hey there. Thanks for the question! I think you would benefit from kybella injections initially since the fat under your chin moderate - this would need to be properly assessed in person because if the fat is only mild and the protrusion is more due to the soft tissues under the mouth, kybella would not be suitable.  You would likely need 3 vials per treatment and 2-3 treatments are standard, expect swelling afterwards! Hope that helps
