Is this my muscle tissue being melted away from Kybella?

I recommend an in-person assessment with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is also an expert Kybella injector. If the effects you are seeing are caused by the Kybella, they will not continue indefinitely and you will be able to have other treatments to restore your facial contours if necessary. Thank you for your question. Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin and can be performed with a neck lift, if you're a candidate. there's no way to stop the process once this medication has been injected.  Some people do inject in this vicinity with an attempt to get jowls to shrink.  Doing so is off label and asked lead to facial nerve paralysis creating uneven smile's.  You simply need to wait until all changes have stopped. Most likely give it six months and then be a reassessed for the outcome of the treatment.  If you have significant tissue loss then you'll need to look into options of how to restore this which is not necessarily the easiest thing in regards to permanent correction.  I'm not a fan of this treatment and do not offer it in my practice. Liposuction is far more predictable, has less inflammation and swelling and can give definitive results with a single treatment.  Follow up with your provider so he or she is aware of your outcome and can adjust their treatments accordingly. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
