I recently got an areola reduction and I'm worried my scars on my left boob (pictures 3 and 4) are healing really badly. There's still surgical glue on them but I was told to let it fall off naturally. The second and fourth photos are with the flash on. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. I was also told that when the glue comes off completely to use a silicone gel.
Answer: Recovery You are still very early in your recovery and all seems to be healing appropriately. Be sure to closely follow post op instructions, discuss your concerns with your surgeon, and keep all follow up appointments.

Answer: Incisions healing ok? Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question. Also, congrats on your surgery! The are that you are concerned about appears to have some superficial separation of the areola from the surrounding skin. You are only 2 weeks from your surgery so it is too early to tell how the final incisions will look. Once the surgical glue comes off, if there are still some superficial open areas, you will want to ask your plastic surgeon if you should be putting some type of Antibiotic ointment on these areas. Usually, you do not want to put silicone on open wounds. Minor, superficial separation can occur and usually go on to heal fine. If for any reason the scars are not to your liking then revisions can be done very easily in the future once you are completely healed. This all being said, you should definitely express your concerns with your plastic surgeon and see what their recommendations are. Hope this helps!Ankur Mehta MD

Answer: Nipple reduction surgery Thank you for your question.I do see the areas you are referring to for the the left side. It appears you have a few scabs, but they look superficial from the photos. I would follow the instructions from your surgeon, let the glue fall off do not pick at the incisions. I recommend washing the area daily and once the glue is off and the scabs are gone, start using the silicone pads to help improve the scars. Good luck with recovery.

Answer: Are my scars healing ok after an Areola Reduction? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. I see your areas of concern and your left breast incision appears to have a small amount of scabbing and superficial separation taking place. This should heal on its own from the "inside-out" causing little effect to your long-term results. As nothing replaces an in-person examination I would strongly recommend reaching out to your surgeon about your concerns so that they can evaluate you and offer you the best recommendations. Hope this helps.

Answer: Healing after areola reduction The areas of concern are clear. However, while the long term result may still be good, you should consult your surgeon in person as he or she knows the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you.
