Face is still red after beard transplant (Photo)

Question

I had a beard transplant nearly 7 weeks ago and although I have shaved the beard area now I am still very red around my beard line. It's almost like someone has dyed my face a red colour. Also I still have tiny holes on my face and chin area that don't seem to heal. Someone suggested using retinol but I'm worried about the reaction to that

Redness after surgery can persist for several weeks.  One of the side effect of Retin-A is that may cause redness.

At 7 weeks post op all wounds should have healed. If you have concerns about the healing or your appearance, you should schedule a follow up visit with your hair transplant surgeon.

For lighter skin individuals in some cases the redness takes longer to go away.  you can try low dosage of hydrocortisone lotion twice a day for a week and see if you see any improvement. If it doesn't improve you need to see your doctor.

For your complaints, I would go back to the doctor who perform the surgery and ask him/her that question. I would not rush to using an retinol on this as that might make the problem worse.

Redness after beard transplant would not be unexpected at this stage of healing. Your will have to wait 3 to 6 more months for things to settle down and for your result to be evaluated. In the meantime,  discuss this situawith your surgeon.
