When can I wear a turban regularly and safely after my FUE treatment?

Question

I had my FUE surgery done 3 weeks ago with 2800 grafts on the front hairline (receding), sides (cause traction alopecia I believe from wearing a turban) and graft on the crown area (thinning maybe pattern baldness). I am a Sikh male a wear turban a for at least 8 hours a day. I have not worn one up to now from the surgery date for the grafts to heal. My question is when can I return to my old schedule of turban wearing? Also what are the risks etc, any other guidance? I am 36. Thanks in advance

It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.   There should be no issue with wearing a turban after your scalp has healed.

Assuming there are no irregularities regarding your transplant, it's generally safe to start wearing things like turbans after two weeks past the transplant date. However, you should definitely check in with your doctor first.

Hair loss in men from tight turbans worn for cultural/religious reasons is an example of traction alopecia. The timeframe for starting to wear a turban again after a hair transplant should be cleared with the doctor who did the procedure. Wearing a turban after a hair transplant might affect the transplanted hairs in the same way as the original hairs so it should be worn as loose as possible. At 3 weeks the transplanted follicle stem cells will be stable so you could start wearing the turban if your doctor says it is OK to do do.

After an FUE the wounds, in our hands, are usually closed in 5 days or so. Using a clean Turban at 1 week is reasonable as long as the crusts are off of the recipient area

HelloYou can wear your turban now. You will have absolutely no problem with the turban. Lets understand why you had the problem at all. The cloth under the turban needs to be lose, and not tight that it presses the hair roots. Further the small patka that is made causes the maximum problem since it pulls the hair up in a bundle and causes traction on them, leading to this problem, In fact young girls who have their hair in pleats, often have broad foreheads because of same reason. SO you should be safe if you remember the above thingsDr Amit Gupta
