Is it normal to still have back pain after a breast reduction?

I just had a reduction on March 3rd, 2016 so about a month ago and I did have relief at first with my neck and back pain. Before my surgery I weighed 110 lbs with my chest size being a 34DDD which gave me horrible neck and back pain. I am now around a size D and am expected to go down to a C. I did have back and neck relief at first but it seems to come back here and there. I read online that it COULD be my muscles not being used to less weight on my chest but I want to see if that is true or not

You should make an appointment with your plastic surgeon for an in person examination as the symptoms you are describing could indicate a number of things. More pictures would be helpful, but having your doctor examine you and prescribe further treatment is probably necessary. Good luck!

Although large breasts are often the culprit with back pain, sometimes they're not, or they're only part of the problem.  After all, men can have chronic back pain too, and they don't have large breasts.  Once you're a little more healed, see a physical therapist or chiropractor if your back pain continues.

Back pain does not always improve with breast reduction, but it often does.  Some may be related to other underlying issues or it could be positional as you are healing and not probably using your body the same way as before surgery.
