Is there a name for this brow-ridge/nose condition? Is it a bad thing? What causes it? (Photos)

I have seen this is quite a few men and it is due to heavy and overactive frowning muscles located between the eyebrows. A combination of Botox to these muscles( but not the forehead muscles) and filler to the crease does help. 

Thank you for your question.  This condition may occur for many of the reasons you stated.  Without a profile photograph, it is difficult to evaluate whether the crease is caused by a deep radix or prominent glabella.  Patients who have overactive or prominent glabellar muscles, prominent glabellar bones, a deep radix or ptosis (drooping) of forehead skin may all develop this horizontal crease.  The frown muscles can be made smaller and their function decreased with use of botulinum toxin in the area.  Soft tissue filler may also help improve the contour of the crease or surrounding area, but this area is considered a high risk area for fillers, so make sure the physician you choose is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and experienced with filler injection.  Injection into this area is considered off-lable, and use of a cannula rather than a sharp needle may reduce the risk of intravascular injection.  Finally, there are surgical options that can improve the crease, which may include reducing the depth of the radix with a cartilage graft, or removal of the frown muscles.   An in person evaluation by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon is the best first step.

Hi,This is a horizontal crease created by a heavy ptotic brow or excess heavy skin fold. This could be approached in several different ways depending on severity. One way could be a simple filler and other way a mid-brow lift that would be more permanent in nature.Best,Dr.S.
