3 days post op Rhinoplasty-Will my uvula heal? (photos)

Hello, I had a rhinoplasty three days ago and woke up with a sore throat. My lip was bruised from the breathing tube and when I went home my uvula was swollen, red, and dark. The inside of throat has been bloody and irritated ever since. It still hurts. Is this serious damage? Will it heal? Thank you

Thank you for sharing your question. It is normal to experience discomfort in the throat post surgery. During the surgery itself, you are intubated, which can cause irritation in the throat when it is placed and removed. I recommend contacting the surgeon who preformed your procedure for a quick exam. At this juncture, your surgeon will want to see you in person and rule out anything more serious. Best of luck, Dr. Kian.

I have seen this before.  It may have derived from suctioning the throat or packing might have ben placed there. It can be very painful, similar to Vincent's herpangina.  There are mouth gargles that will ameliorate this, but I suggest seeing  an otorhinolaryngologist to confirm the diagnosis
