Thank you for your question. Although post-operative instructions do vary from one plastic surgeon to another, my advice is to wear a compression bra (or surgical wrap) for two full days following breast augmentation at which time I advise my patients to shower. A soft sports bra or surgical bra should be worn for 3-4 weeks. Best to follow the specific instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Only your surgeon can answer this. Every surgeon has his or her own protocol. Some surgeons use a bandage wrap, some do not. Each surgeon has a technique and protocol that they feel works best for them, so you should follow those specific instructions.Good luck!
Dear timelessmarcia3,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Great question ! There is not one exact answer for this question as each physician will have their own post-op procedures depending on the type of augmentation you have. As for my practice, I like the incision to be placed in the armpit and my patients are wrapped with gauze and Velcro wraps for 2-3 days. The wrappings are removed and massage is then instructed to assist the implants to settle. Your plastic surgeon will give you instructions for your particular surgery. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have patients wear a soft bra after breast augmentation for a few weeks to splint everything, and at that point the scars are generally very stable and we move to normal bras (or none) and long term scar management. Most important is to follow your surgeon's recovery instructions.
I typically do not recommend a bandage wrap for my patients. I suggest you speak directly with your surgeon or look at the instructions given to you at the time of surgery. Congratulations and best wishes.
We plastic surgeons all do things somewhat differently. Best advice is to get the answer from your surgeon regarding the details of bandage/ bra wear. They know what they did at surgery and how they want to treat you postoperatively.
Thank you for your question! This question would best be answered by your plastic surgeon as each surgeon has his/her own postoperative protocol. In my practice, I have my patients wear their postoperative surgical bra for the first 24 hours then they can change into any sports bra that does not have underwire. Best of luck!
Every surgeon has their own recommendations forpost-operative care, so the answers will vary between surgeons. It’s importantthat you follow your surgeon’s instructions to ensure the best results. Werecommend consulting with your doctor to further discuss your concerns.
Thank you for your question. Contact your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your post op protocol. Not every recovery is the same. Best Wishes.
