Is it possible to massage too much after a breast augmentation?

Hello,Implant massage is an age old myth that does not prevent or treat capsular contracture, nor is it necessary for normal implant healing. This statement is backed by evidence, and many surgeons who know the science and don't recommend implant massage have busy breast augmentation practices with low rates of all complications. Although you have asymmetry to your breasts, I urge you to avoid massaging either of them and let your body heal. You will either develop capsular contracture or not, and no amount of massage, vitamin E, antibiotics, or Singulair will help you. Best of luck!

Thank you for the question. It is normal for implants to be high initially and both can settle at different pace. You will see your final results in 3-6 months. It is best to follow your board certified plastic surgeon’s advice for massaging the implants. Good luck.

Capsular massage has no proven evidence of preventing or treating capsular contracture. Most surgeons still advise it, in part because there is a general belief it won't hurt the implants as long as it is not done harshly, and in part because it may help you familiarize yourself with how your breasts and implants feel (as part of self-examination). Your surgeon may have specific guidance on this for you and you should generally follow your surgeon's advice. The fact that one of your breasts is more tender and firmer could represent a capsular contracture, a tighter pocket, differences in muscle tightness, and a variety of other issues. Your surgeon is the best advisor on how to proceed.

You are still in the early stages of healing and it is normal to have the breasts heal and drop at different rates. You will start to see final results about 6 months in. Good luck!

It's not uncommon for the breasts to heal differently after breast augmentation.  I don't think you need to do anything differently.  I recommend following your surgeon's advice regarding the frequency and duration of massaging.  Hope this helps!
