I had an operation to remove the hidrinitis from both armpits athetically theyhealed fine and dont look bad at allbut the right a has a small dot of hidrinitis still. I have been told my doctors that it shouldnt affect the breast implant as it will be going through my nipple. But HS is not researched much in Australia so I really want a second opinion.
Answer: Hidradenitis and breast implants
Josephine,
Thanks for the querry
The risk with hidradenitis and a prosthesis such as a breast implant will be the worry that infection couyld move form the infected implant to the breast implant. If a breast implant becomes infected it will most likely need to be removed, so we would want to minimise the risk of that happening. If that means treating the armpit first it would be a logical plan.
The other thing to consider is that it would not be wise to place the implant through an incision in the armpit as the risk of infection would be higher.
I suggest a formal assessment of the options for the armpit and the breast implants by a qualified Plastic Surgeon would be the best option, and remenber there is always a solution to the problem

Answer: Hidradintis and breast augmentation
Thank you for your question. Based on your description, it would seem that you are an appropriate candidate for breast augmentation. The majority of the affected area has already been surgically removed, and the HS does not affect the breast. As long as there is no active infection, a breast augmentation should be able to be done safely. If there is any current inflammation or infection, a course of antibiotics beforehand to resolve this may be necessary.
Best of luck with your breasts.

Answer: Hidradenitis and breast implants
Hi
HS can affect any tissue that contains a certain type of sweat gland, called apocrine gland.
Some people are unlucky to get HS under the breast in the inframammary fold. If your HS is restricted to the armpit and it has been treated with no current contamination with bacteria, then you should be fine.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Answer: Breast Implants with Hydradenitis
I would recommend definitive treatment and resolution of your hydradenitis prior to any breast augmentation procedure. As with any surgical procedure, we want to minimize our operative risk. The chance of infection will be significantly higher with active hydradenitis compared to complete resolution of the problem.

Answer: Hidradenitis and breast implants
It is best to excise the axillary hidradenitis completely before considering breast implants. Patients can also have it in their groin as well, so this should be investigated.
