Thank you for your question and for sharing your photo. Size of the implants can be very personal choices that a patient makes. In many cases, patients can go from a A cup to a D cup or larger. In our practice, I begin by asking whether you are looking for more projection or perkiness and whether you mind have some of the breast tissue push outwards on the side. In addition, I ask you to try on different external sizers to give you a sense of what your breast may look like and the feel of extra volume in the breasts. In addition, I take details measurements of the breast including the base diameter of the breast. Your volume range and the breast shape preferences helps me the further guide you in your implant selection and to give you guidance on what the breast might look. I would visit with some board certified plastic surgeons in your area to discuss your options and goals in more detail.
I'm not sure of your question. The size of implants used are chosen based on dimensions, quality of breast tissue and goals. During a consultation your surgeon should be able to review all of this with you. Good luck.
I consider two factors when selecting implants for my patients: 1.Dimensional planning 2.Gel Implant Sizing system Dimensional planning – The measurements of your chest wall are taken. Also, the breast dimensions including the height, width, and current dimensions of each breast form the basis of dimensional planning. Based on these measurements, the implant size is recommended. This will give you a unique breast implant that is suited for your body frame. However, there are some limitations of what size we can recommend. For instance, some implants may just be too big for a narrow chest wall. Your surgeon can review this with you during the consultation. Gel Implant Sizing system – During the preliminary breast implant consultation, you will be provided with an option to “try on” a variety of implant shapes and sizes. You can also visualize the possible outcomes of your surgery which helps you to get that perfect size to give you the shape that you longed for. This way your preferences are known and you can then pick a range of implants that will “fit” just right to give a soft natural fuller look. If you have decided on saline implants, then based on the gel sizer you select, we can guide you to the saline implant that achieves a similar look. Hope this helps. Dr. Basu Houston, TX
A breast implant adds a certain volume to the breast, by definition, increasing the breast size.
This is not an unusual request. If you are in a c cup bra but do not fill up the upper quadrant then an implant my be a viable solution.
There is currently no simple way to measure breast size/volume. If it were then an implant of the exact same size/volume would be expected to make the breast look twice as big as it was. Even this doesn't translate into bra sizes as bra cup sizes are all over the place in terms of style, manufacturer, and chest circumference. There is no simple way to measure breast size after an augmentation either and I disagree that external sizers are a good way to approach the problem. Computer imaging is getting better at it. Think of an implant as just pillow-volume behind your breast. It doesn't lift the breast up, it just fills it out over the entire area of the implant. It doesn't hold the breast up as it's just a pillow. The tissue is going to do what it's going to do. The only way to fill in specific areas without an implant is something like fat grafting which is not currently recommended for cosmetic breast augmentation. The smallest size increase with a low profile implant that properly fits the width of the breast (to the extent that it can be categorized) is one cup size. The maximum is two cup sizes.
Hi Paigene. You can pick your implant size based on your body's measurements, choosing from a range of options based on your own dimensions and tissue quality. While it's impossible to guarantee final cup size, trying on sizers lets you preview the implants that are available that will look "normal" when your breast is exposed. The vast majority of our patients are extremely happy with their final size when they learn about the measurement process used to choose appropriate implants, see pictures of patients most similar to themselves and pick their implant by trying on sizers that are appropriate for their dimensions. Many patients are able to wear the same bras after the surgery as before but this is not something that can be guaranteed.
If I understand your question, you would like to stay the same size as your present breast size but look fuller and give your breasts some lift. If that is the case, then I can only answer no, since adding an implant to the breast area will, of necessity, make the breast larger. However, using a low profile implant may be the answer for you. The low profile can add fullness to the upper breast without adding as much projection to the overall breast and can be very helpful in giving the breast some lift. In the end, however, you will have a larger breast overall, because when you add to (augment) the breasts, they get larger!

Women’s breasts generally change size with weight gain or loss, and although it varies, a good rule of thumb is one cup size for each 25 pounds. A modest weight change of 10-15 pounds should not change the appearance of the implants substantially, or make them appear fake. In very thin p...
