I was curious if someone could possibly undergo a Brazilian butt lift procedure AND a rhinoplasty procedure at the same time. Would there be added risks and extra complications? I know it's common to combine Brazilian butt lifts with breast augmentations. Would it be the same?
Answer: BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT FIRST, AND RHINOPLASTY 3-6 MONTHS AFTERWARDS. Hello annon3452, I appreciate your questions! I would recommend you getting a VASER Liposuction with fat transfer to the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) done first, and a rhinoplasty 6 months after you’ve fully recovered from the initial procedure. Based on my experience, after performing BBL surgery you must avoid sitting or sleeping on your back for 8 weeks or else the desired outcome will be negatively affected. Putting pressure on your bottom by sitting down or laying on it during the recovery period can stiffen, deform and even cause the transplanted fat cells to reabsorb. On the other hand, if you get a rhinoplasty done at the same time, you’ll be required to sleep on your back and keep your upper body elevated or else you would hurt the results. Ideally, if you have a reclining chair, it would be best to sleep in it for about a week after surgery. Failing that you could use a few pillows to prop up your head. Sleeping in a midline position will not only reduce swelling but nasal congestion making it easier for you to fall asleep. Hence, it wouldn’t be suitable to get BBL and rhinoplasty performed at once. Furthermore, increased operative time is associated with higher risk of complications such as infection and deep vein thrombosis. Your plastic surgeon would need to evaluate you in person to assess your candidacy for these cosmetic procedures at the moment. Good luck and may God bless you! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: Brazilian butt lift and rhinoplasty at the same time? I have combined these two procedures several times, but these are very different procedures and you need to find an expert at both. Combining the two will not pose an issue with an experienced surgeon and the appropriate recovery protocol. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Combination of surgeries Dear annon3452,Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. Its best to see a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine your options and whether it would take too long, more than 4 hours, to do all.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
