Hi! I plan on getting a mommy makeover later this year. I have consultations coming up, but wanted other sources of reference as well. I am 130lbs , in my mid 30s, have had 3 children naturally, and lost over 100 pounds. I do cardio and toning multiple times a week. When researching tummy tucks, I’ve seen mixed results when seeing if Lipo is really needed with tummy tucks. I would really prefer not to have Lipo done, but am open to any rationals that would say why or why not Lipo is needed.

It is often used for contouring the flank/love handle area to optimize the result in terms of contouring the back and sides. You may or may not need liposuction after your weight loss so your plastic surgeon will be able to make the recommendation based on your exam. If you decide not to have it at the time of the tummy tuck, it can be done at a later time if needed.

Answer: Liposuction Liposuction is useful to remove excess fat, especially on the side s of the abdomen and the flank areas. However, it is not done all over the abdomen at the same time as the tummy tuck to avoid problems with circulation to the skin. Some also choose to do the liposuction in all areas first, and then do the tummy tuck about 6 months later. You did not post photos, so I cannot be specific for you.
