I had 0.5ml of resylane filler in my lips yesterday and I can feel a lump forming. I was advised not to massage until the 48 hour mark but others have said I should already be massaging. I don’t want to mess about or make it worse.

Answer: Lumps after Lip augmentation with Fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella) Yes, there can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: I would not advise an aggressive massage as this will only create more swelling and will prolong healing time. Thank you for your question! However, I would not advise an aggressive massage as this will only create more swelling and will prolong healing time. Try to be patient with results and wait 2 weeks for the product to settle in. I recommend a follow up with you provider or another board certified injector after the lips have healed. It may be advised to use hyaluronidase to dissolve the lump if it is still present. Best of luck!
