Thank you in advance. I was preauthorized to have breast reduction surgery. Then I stopped breast feeding & lost weight (first time in my life from breasts). When I went for my pre op appt, my surgeon is quite certain that I only have 200g/300g respectively to remove now & would now consider the operation more of a lift with a slight reduction. I am looking to have relatively small breasts - 30C/D is my goal. Not 34/36C/D. Could I have 320g removed for this outcome in your opinion?
Answer: Breast reduction Dear Miola, based on your photos and description, you look like a good candidate for a breast reduction. Without an examination it is hard to tell how much breast tissue can be removed. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: How much tissue to remove with breast reduction surgery? Thank you for the question and congratulations on your decision to proceed with breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform.Yes, it is certainly possible to remove the amount of weight you are referring to; the main question is whether you will be pleased with the resulting breast size after this excision. This is a question that online consultants will not be able to help you with specifically. Before undergoing the breast reduction procedure it will be very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon (who you should choose very carefully). Most patients wish to achieve enough of a reduction to help with their symptoms while remaining proportionate with the remainder of their torso. With the goal of improving communication with my patients I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) and computer imaging very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural or proportionate” or “C or D cup” means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Once you have communicated your goals carefully, your plastic surgeon will be able to provide you with an estimation of how much tissue will need to be removed, in order to achieve your desired outcome. Best wishes with your breast reduction procedure; hopefully you will be very pleased with the outcome of the procedure performed.

Answer: Breast reduction Hi, thanks for sharing your concern and photos with us! Looking at your photos I might say that you´ll be a great candidate to get a breast reduction because you have enough tissue to reshape to reduce and lift it. Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. Also please try to find a board certified plastic surgeon, remember that your safety, always, is going to be first. Have a great day! Dr. JPG
