I had botox to help my nose but now my lip is thinner. What is going on?

The muscles around your lips are weaker since having Botox in the area, and now when you smile it is changing the way in which they move.  Giving the impression your lip is smaller when it fact it just cannot move the same way it did before.  It will take 3 months, but the lip will return to its normal shape.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

Your upper lip isn't actually thinner, but the muscle has changed so that some of the upper lip is now curled under, making it appear thinner. This is a common issue when injecting Botox around the mouth because the muscle isn't as strong now and can't hold the lip up as well anymore. Over time the Botox will wear off and your lip will turn back up and will no longer appear thinner. It should not take the entire 3-4 months to resolve, but next time you may want to get less units injected there so this isn't as likely to happen.
