I had botox for mild hemifacial spasm. Can this cause upper eyelid drooping and dry eyes (photos)

Botox definitely treats hemifacial spasm.  Upper eyelid drooping is a side effect if the Botox is either injected into an elevator muscle or if the Botox gradually migrated down to the muscle.  Also dry eyes could result if the skin of the eye is not snug or tight around the globe of the eye.  Botox can relax the muscles in certain areas to cause this reaction.  Both effects should resolve as the Botox's results lessen.  Therefore, use saline drops of the dry eyes in the meantime. the droop eyelid and dry eye may be associated with your botox  injection.  Let your physician know about this problem.  He may prescribe eye drops to keep the eye moist.  If the droopyness was caused by the Botox it should resolve within three months.  You may still be a candidate for Botox use, but your doctor may want to adjust the amount or location of the Botox injections.  Best wishes.
