When I got Botox in between my eye brows I get 20 units and get little surface bubbles. Is this from too high of a dose?

I get 4 units in my forehead and 4 in my upper lip and never get the little bubbles there, only in between my eye brows and along the top. I’m curious if this from the Botox excreting? The dose only lasts max 8 weeks, wondering if I should get smaller doses more frequently? Help!

Hi there, It is normal to have raised bumps immediately after receiving Botox, as fluid is being injected into an area where the skin in quite thin. The bumps should resolve within 30-60 minutes. However, if these bumps or bubbles are appearing days after being injected, this is not normal and I would suggest that you follow up with your care provider. The results of Botox should last 3-4 months. It may be that the dose you are receiving is not large enough, however it is difficult for me to say if this is true without assessing you in person.

It's normal to see red raised bumps after Botox as teh injections are often superficial but I don't ever see bubbles with fluid.  Regardless of what it appears like, surface bumps after Botox should be gone in hours. Little bubbles aren’t a very common reaction after Botox. Botox typically lasts about four months; however, there are several reasons that it may not last as long, such as product dilution or you just need more filler.  I recommend a formal consultation with a reputable and experienced cosmetic dermatologist to help you get the results you want.

Twenty units to treat between the brows is a standard dose for this area.  I'm not clear about the "bubbles" that you describe. Is it immediately after injection?  How long until it goes away? I encourage you to speak with your injector for clarification.  If your Botox is only lasting 8 weeks you may want to consider increasing the dose.

It is hard to give an opinion without more information. You can have little bumps immediately after injection. They should resolve in under an hour. Anything beyond that please speak to your treating physician. Good luck.

The typical botox horns are more the edema after local infiltration of both the procures and corrugatoris; did you mean this? Because, blistering is something different that honestly is not comum with a good technique.

It’s common to see a little hump or “bubble” created Botox injections immediately after we inject the medicine. The skin is thin there just like the forehead. Those humps, bumps, or bubbles flattens our within hours. Now if you’re seeing bubbles days after the injections then that’s not normal.

the bubbles /raised area after Botox injection is related to depth of injection....it is common to see around the eyes and forehead. Some patients may require up to 30 or even 40 units between the brows...Slightly higher dose may give you longevity.  Botox usually lasts 3-4 months, in some maybe longer.  It is common to see some redness, swelling at injection site, but resolves very quickly.

 20 units in the glabella area is the standard dose approved by FDA and health Canada 
If the lumps persist more than few days and it is painful you might have infection in the injection site
It is better to be checked by your doctor or the injector

It is not unusual to see a “bubble” after Botox treatment to an area (although rare between the eyebrows), and not indicative of too high a dose.
20 units is appropriate for the Glabella region. You can usually expect Botox to last 3-4 months, although some patients may metabolize it quicker.  Increasing your dose may help you have longer lasting results.
