There is no cause for concern to perform an IPL on a patient with a dental implant. It will not affect your treatment or harm your dental implant. We do notice that patients can be more sensitive in the surrounding area around the implant and often during their IPL will have them use a guard or even just gauze under the gum line to ease any discomfort. IPL is a great treatment that addresses many skin concerns including sun damage and rosacea. Best of luck to you with your treatment.
IPL uses a more scattered light vs. laser and penetrates into the second layer of your skin, known as the dermis. IPL does not penetrate past the second layer of your skin, therefore it does not penetrate past your facial tissue or through your oral mucosa or through the jaw bone. IPL is perfectly safe for individuals with dental implants or any other dental restorations.IPL treatments are a type of light therapy used to treat wrinkles, spots, and unwanted hair on the face, neck, arms, shoulders, and back. You will see a minimization or removal of age spots, sun damage, freckles, birthmarks, varicose veins, rosacea, hair on your face, neck, back, chest, arms, legs, underarms, and bikini line. IPL can also minimize the appearance of rosacea. All the best,Dr. Ammar Mahmoud
There is no problem having an IPL treatment done on patients with metal dental implants. This is done all the time and patients with dental implants should have no concerns doing an IPL.Best wishes,Pamela Stuart MD
Yes, IPL is a broad-band light that does not penetrate through the skin. Metal in your mouth is not a problem receiving a treatment.
Thanks for your question! IPL will not impact your fillers. I would suggest doing the laser treatment on a different day than your injectibles. Laser treatments, like IPL, are best done in the fall and winter when you will have minimum sun exposure. Don't forget to wear a physical sunscreen a...
Thank you for your question. The best known method of preventing skin cancer is applying an SPF with 50+ regularly. There are no proven studies of IPL being able to prevent cancer, tanning beds will only increase the potential risk of getting skin cancer. It would be best to set up a...
Yes, you can have laser or light treatments on your face if you use protopic. IPL or intense-pulsed light therapy is an excellent option for visible facial veins. However, it is not your only option. I also offer vascular laser treatments, such as a pulse-dyed laser like Vbeam, which produces...
