Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. . Thank you for your question! We commonly combine IPL and Fraxel lasers to improve skin texture, tone and pigment. The IPL laser helps improve sun damage, pigmentation issues and small visible blood vessels. The Fraxel laser helps improve skin texture, tone and crepiness. We recommend that you use Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar two weeks before and after your laser treatments to prepare your skin for the laser and to help accelerate healing after the procedure.
Thank you for your question. Of course depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type and your specific concerns, combining IPL with a Fractional lasers yield great results over individual treatments alone. We often combine BBL to address discoloration, redness, or broken capillaries along with a Halo Hybrid Fractional laser to address fine lines and wrinkles as well as stimulate greater collagen for a more youthful result.I recommend researching these treatments and providers near you to truly get the most value out of your treatments.Peter Castillo, MDSwan MedicalLos Gatos, CA
Combining laser treatments to optimize results is very reasonable. IPL can be followed by fractionated lasers such as Clear + Brilliant and Fraxel. You can also perform fractionated RF (Ematrix) on top of IPL in the same session.
It is quite common for patients to use IPL treatments initially to improve sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and/or broken capillaries on their skin, and then chose to do Fractional laser treatments to address additional skin concerns. You should have an in-person evaluation however to determine if you are a candidate for these procedures. If so there should be no reason you could not start with IPL treatments and then do Fractional treatments subsequently.Best wishes,Pamela Stuart, MD
Yes - and this is a great question! You can combine different laser and light procedures together to yield different results. I love combining IPL with fractional treatments. IPL will target more of the color issues and fractional, more of the surface and texture issues. It's a great idea and something we recommend all the time! It is all depend on treating physician preference. I would feel comfortable treating you with IPL even if you had just stopped using the azelaic acid 1 day prior to your IPL session.
Technically the gentle max pro from candela is a laser vs. IPL which is considered a light device. Although both technologies can be used to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmentation. The Gentle Max has both an Alexandrite & a Yag which have classically been used to treat discoloration s...
