I have acne scarring that is still red as it is from recent acne, but I also have some pitted deeper scarring. Will CO2 laser help with all of this including the redness? I know V Beam seems to be the gold standard for redness but CO2 laser seems to be the best of the best overall which is what I’m looking for
Answer: Keep It Simple: TCA CROSS For Ice Pick Scars; Professional Conventional Microneedling+ Redness Reducing Topicals For PIE My first question is why go relatively expensive & risky when there are less expensive, proven and time tested (for both efficacy and safety), simpler techniques that can get the job done. In keeping with the priniciple of "Keep It Simple," TCA CROSS, which I have been using for well over two decades, works well for ice pick scars and dilated pores, and professionally performed manual microneedling (no need for expensive RF microneedling) accompanied by the application of prescription topical redness reducers, like tranexamic acid and brimonidine, can help to hasten to fade the post acne-related redness (post inflammatory erythema or PIE). CO2 laser is has significant downtime and the portential for really troublesome and even permanent adverse reactions about which you can learn more by doing your "due diligence." You would be wise to consult a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and avoid venues hawking their supposedly "next big thing," bells and whistles expensive laser. Hope this helps.

Answer: CO2 paired with Melapads to improve hyperpmentation of acne scarring Fractional CO2 laser is an excellent tool for skin rejuvenation in our center in Santa Monica. We use the fractional multi-depth ablative approach to help resurface the skin, recontour acne scars, improve incisional plastic surgery scars, and reduce surface irregularities from skin tone to dark pigmentation. Our approach utilizes a multi-depth approach that targets melanocytes in the epidermis and collagen fibroblasts in the dermis. This approach can be combined with a TCA Peel in a process known as a sapphire peel. Fractional laser is excellent for acne scars and contour scars in the skin. Patients are advised to undergo skin protocols with Melarase creams before and after treatment to help reduce pigmentation. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. After the laser, we expect redness for a few weeks as the skin improves. PRP and Hydrafacial enzyme facials can further improve skin quality after fractional co2. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Improving Acne Scars with lasers, fillers, subcision and microneedling/prp--takes a series of treatments CO2 is the best laser for scars, but Erbium and Halo with Profractional are great alternatives. It may take a series of treatments to see improvements and to maintain. Keep in mind that a tailored combination approach will give you the most improvement with acne scars. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
