I had PAL Lipo done on my abdomen and love handles and during the first week only I was required to wear cushion pads under the garment. Now that the cushion pads are out, the garment does not feel as tight. Will this hinder recovery?

Answer: Liposuction Garment Thank you for your question. The garment does not need to be super tight, but it should be snug or it really isn't doing anything. If you feel like your garment is not snug enough consider obtaining a smaller size from your surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Will skin still tighten if garment is not super tight after PAL liposuction? Thank you for your question. I would recommend buying new garments that are snug enough to give you support and good compression. The garment does not have to be so tight that it is uncomfortable. Pertaining to the skin tightening effect, there are several factors that influence the amount of skin retraction. The age of the patient at the time of liposuction, pts over the age of 35 will have less retraction than someone in their 20's. The amount of adipose tissue that was removed also plays a role. The more adipose tissue removed the more the skin has to retract. Skin thickness at the time of surgery also has a role. There is no way to accurately predict how much the skin will tighten. Wearing good fitting garments helps, but in my opinion is not the only factor that plays a role in the final outcome.Discuss this with your plastic surgeon and follow their advice
