I always had a small, not raised, barely noticeable brown birthmark on the tip of my nose. Over the past few years, it's gotten bigger, has turned RED, and is raised above the skin and now it looks like a pimple. Everyone always thinks it's a pimple. It won't go away, and makeup can't cover it, it just slides right off. I really hate it and it's embrassing. Why did it turn into a red mole? Please help. And can I get it removed without scarring? Thanks.

Answer: Cosmetic Mole Removal this can be done by a well trained dermatologist but regardless of the treatment perofrmed, you can have a scar. I suggest seeing an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Rudolph? Sorry about the answer title as I am sure that you don't like looking at the red lesion on your nose, but I couldn't not take the opportunity for a lighthearted moment. It looks like you might have either a mole or a small enlarged blood vessel.Either way, you should seek the care of a dermatologist and there are many great ones in the Boston area. The bad news is that there is NEVER any way to cut away some skin without a scar. Fortunately, many of the scars are almost invisible but if somebody tells you that there will be NO scar, don't believe them. It's simply not true. You should get a good result here. Good luck.
