I had some hairline recession and chose to buy a LLLT helmet. I used the helmet as directed for 3 months, and my hair loss seemed to get progressively worse over that time. The literature on the device says shedding can occur in the early stages, but my shedding didn't seem to stop and got worse over 3 months. When I started using the device, my hair loss was slight. After 3 months of use, the loss is more noticeable. Can using LLLT lead to more irreversible hair loss and make thinning worse?

This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
There is no solid evidance that they are helpful. We actually used to offer them at our office long time ago and when noticed the change is minimal we stopped offering them.
