Had Impetigo infection right after Fraxel treatment, will my skin be scarred?

My skin type is III/ IV. I had Fraxel 3 weeks ago and got Impetigo 3 days after Fraxel. Wast treated with Antibiotics . The infection is now completely cleared but my skin where the infection occurred is now pink/red .Will this discoloration/scarring be permanent? What type of treatment can be done to minimize this ? Thanks

Thank you for your question. First you should know that the scar should improve over time. It is especially important that you use sunscreen. Eventually laser therapy may improve the appearance of the scar. Best regards,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

I suggest you be on appropriate skin care and see your dermatologist regularly to ensure proper healing.  Once its all healed other lasers/needling can be performed to improve the apperance.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I'm sorry to hear about your infection. You should go back to see your treating doctor to make a specific plan for you.  If you are not sure, get a second opinion from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  It is important to protect the healing skin from the sun.  We recommend a broad spectrum sunscreen with zinc oxide.  Typically there will be improvement in the appearance of any scar over time.
