My skin type is III/ IV. I had Fraxel 3 weeks ago done by a TOP dermatologist and got Impetigo infection ...according to the doctor that treated me. Wast treated with Antibiotics . The infection is now completely cleared. Went for a second opinion with a renowed dermatologist and he said that this was NOT impetigo but is a burn from the Fraxel. Now my skin have a red/ Pink scar and the surrounding tissue is dark. Im treating with Azalex. Will this go away ?How this scar can be treated?
Answer: Fraxel laser and Melarase treatments Fraxel lasers and chemical peels can cause unwanted discloration and pigmentation if not performed conservatively. After melasma laser or chemical peels; the following protocol is advised: Elevase Moisture Booster: Twice daily application of Elevase Moisture Booster to help hydrate chapped, sensitized, and dry skin after treatment. Apply liberally on the treated area and reapply if you are experiencing persistent dryness.Melarase AM + Melarase PM: Once the skin has healed over and the peeled, apply Melarase AM in the morning and Melarase PM in the evening to help reduce abnormal pigmentation or PIH. Melarase creams can help maintain a smooth complexion and should be used for at least several months (Note: one bottle contains one month supply).Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: #laserresurfacing sorry that this happened. I have been working with Fraxel for almost 10 yrs now and I have not seen this in my practice but I do get inquiries from patients like yourself who had a bad outcome. I trained at MGH and worked with some of the best doctors in the world. if you don't mind, let me know the names of your doctors please. perhaps I can make a recommendation for another doctor at MGH.

Answer: Fraxel and Type III/IV Skin I have treated so many patients with Fraxel and it is so important to consult someone who uses these lasers daily. I would suggest you consult with a new board certified dermatologist. Typically I do not use Fraxel on patients who are type IV. I use chemical peels or eMatrix for these reasons. I am very sorry for your trouble and please keep us posted. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Fraxel Complication I am so sorry this happened to you. It looks as though you still have a lot of inflammation in the area that should settle down with some time and azelaic acid should help. Hopefully by the time you read this, the redness has already improved. I think it would be helpful to consult a new dermatologist for recommendations. Best regards!
