Chin Implant Removal: How long does scar tissue capsule take to resorb?

When a chin implant is removed the soft tissue covering the implant doesn't always return to it's previous condition and appearance. With Medpore, there is no capsule and the tissue actually grows into the implant. Generally, the sooner the implant is removed following the surgery the more likely the soft tissue will return to it's presurgical appearance.

While your chin implant can be removed you are not going to go back completely to what you looked like before. The scar capsules will eventually be resorbed within 6 months after removal and the soft tissue chin pad tissues have been stretched out so there will be some changes. The only question is whether these changes will be visibly significant or not.

The capsule will not resorb.

Typically capsules in this area are pretty thin.

Medpore implants are porous with ingrowth of tissue and can be more challenging to remove.

You should see something resembling long-term results by about six weeks and after three months you probably will not see much change.
