Cheek augmentation: what size and mm projection terino malar shell implant is needed? (photo)

I have included pictures of two Real Self community members whose results are what I'm most interested in achieving. I believe they stated medium in their description but did not provide a mm projection of the implant style.

The style and size of a cheek implant needed to give the best result cannot be determined by just looking at photographs.  The patient needs to be examined to determine the correct implant to use.  You should be able to come to a decision with your surgeon on the best implant to use for your face.

Bananaana,Without a personal consultation and/or possibly with much better standard medical photographs (views: front, two side profiles, two 3/4-- obliques). I believe that you probably need either large 4 or possibly 5mm implants or a surgeon such as myself who often customizes them during the operation.Best, Dr. Terino

Those type of results come from a cheek implant style that incorporates both the malar and submalar areas. (combined malar-submalar shell) The largest size is only 4mms thick . But it is more than just about implant size and style, it is also getting the implants in the right anatomic position to create the desired effect. It would be helpful to know why your first cheek implants 'failed' and what style and size they were.

Cheek implants are manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes. Even a size medium has different projections depending upon  the thickness of which implant is chosen. The size of the cheek implants as determined at the time of the consultation and examination of the cheeks which are a three-dimensional structure. I believe you need to see someone with a lot of experience in cheek augmentation.  If you have already had a 'failed' cheek augmentation, you don't want that to happen again.  I have been performing cheek implants for over 20 years and have great results.  It is not just the implant, but the placement and shape of the implant, and the surgeon, that will give you the look you are trying to achieve.
