Hi. I have struggled with this dark spot above my lip for years. I have tried many skin products such as niacimide, kojic acid, aha +bha, vitamin c and more and none have work. Recently I got a chemical peel and it did not budge at all. They only offer PCA peels in their spa and I feel as though I may need something more rigorous. The rest of my face is pretty sensitive so could I do a treatment that targets the above lip area only?
Answer: Enlighten RX Peel One option is the Enlighten RX Peel, designed specifically for melasma and hyperpigmentation, and safe for all skin types. If you're focusing on treating just your upper lip, a series of laser treatments recommended by your local aesthetic provider could be a great choice.

Answer: Melasma Treatment Hi Pioneering3044, Most often the discoloration (melasma) above the lip is a hormonal hyperpigmentation. While some chemical peels and skin care products, such as a prescription strength Hydroquinone, may help reduce the appearance, sun exposure will bring it back to the surface. I would recommend a Jessner's peel that is safe for your skin tone once a month for 3-4 months and then as needed for maintenance every 4-6 months, as well as a regimen of Hydroquinone to assist with lightening it's appearance and being very consistent with using SPF on a daily basis, even when not spending time in direct sun light.

Answer: Recommend doing a melapeel to help lighten this area. Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. . Answer: Dark spots on lips. Hi there, So sorry to hear about your struggle with the dark spots above your lips. The products you've used so far are good to use as preventative measures but the pigment may be pretty deep in that area. First thing, I would recommend is seeing an experienced Master Aesthetician with knowledge in treating darker Fitzpatricks (darker skins). Your skin looks to be a Fitzpatrick V, and there are specific treatments such as chemical peels and lasers that are more successful for your Fitzpatrick with less side effects/risks of post hyperpigmentation. However, it is more limited what you can do to your skin. I would recommend pre-treating with a 4-6% Hydroquinone 14 days prior to any treatment you may have to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation. This will inhibit the activation of your melanocytes (skin cells that create pigmentation). Always, always wear sunblock to prevent further pigmentation issues from the sun alone. Best!
