Dorsal Hump Procedure - would it be possible to do it with fillers?

Hello, I wish to undergo an operation to build up my nasal dorsum and bridge in order to develop a Dorsal hump. I want a dorsal hump because it will make my nose appear more defined and masculine. I have wanted to undergo such a procedure for many years and after a year of contemplation I have decided that this is something that I wish to have done. Is it possible to do it surgically and if it can't be done surgically, would it be possible to do it with fillers? Any recommendations?

Hello and thank you for your question. Addressing the shape of your nose (especially the bridge / dorsum) is actually one of the most common reasons people seek out and undergo a rhinoplasty. An open septorhinoplasty can best address both your aesthetic concerns and any functional issues with your nose. I would be able to adjust the size, shape, and definition of your nose (including the nostrils, and tip)! It's also much safer and more effective than the non-surgical alternative (e.g. nasal filler- which carries the risk of BLINDNESS)!

This truly a surgery of millimeters- and whether you're looking for a minor adjustment or a major transformation, it requires exceptional surgical skill to achieve functional and natural-looking results! Because your nose is the DEFINING feature of your face- I would only recommend seeing a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty procedures, and who has significant training and experience performing these surgeries. I actually trained under one of the world leading rhinoplasty experts (who performs 1,000+ nosejobs annually).

If you have a very low nasal bridge, and if you desire to have it raised to the point where it protrudes and appears like a hump, I believe that a surgical alternative might be best. You can certainly build up the nasal bridge during rhinoplasty.  Typically either cartilage or a graft is used to raise it up, and once it heals, it will be permanent. You can always build it up with fillers first to see what it looks like as well. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Nonsurgical, rhinoplasty, or liquid rhinoplasty is a method to nonsurgically alter. The appearance of the nose, adding volume to the nasal dorsum could be done with facial fillers, although the procedure would offer only temporary improvement.

Dorsal augmentation is most effectively done with surgery as cartilage grafts would be needed to augment that area. Filler is typically placed on the nasal dorsum to help camouflage a dorsal hump instead of to create one, but theoretically this would also be an option, albeit of course not a permanent solution. The best thing would be to have an in person exam where your plastic surgeon can evaluate your nose and discuss your goals to determine the best treatment plan.

A full set of facial photographs from all angles are required to make a determination about how best to proceed. If your nasal dorsum is quite low, cartilage grafts harvested from the nose can accomplish building up your bridge line
