I am a week post op. Before my surgery I had mild tubular breasts that were super pointy (like a cone). I got 420cc silicone under the muscle. I’m just wondering if I’m recovering normally? Will they drop and finally have a rounded bottom? (Since I didn’t have one before)
Answer: Tubular breasts: will my boobs ever look normal? Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Your plastic surgeon will be best resource when it comes to accurate assessment, advice, and/or meaningful reassurance. There are many variables when it comes to how much breast implants will "settle"; the main variables, in my opinion are your anatomic starting point and exactly how/where the breast implant pocket was dissected. Again, for this reason, your plastic surgeon will be your best resource. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery. The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. As the breast implants "settle", the lower breast poles will round out, and the nipple/areola complexes will seem to sit higher on each breast mound.I have found that the breast implant "settling" process may take longer for patients with constricted (short, tight lower breast poles) breasts, compared to patients who do not start out with constricted or tuberous breasts. In other words, additional patience may be necessary in your case Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Tubular breasts: will my boobs ever look normal? A week post op is too early, you are still healing. Ask your Dr. about wearing a breast band to help push he breast down. The breast tissue and muscle need to relax and this takes time, remember to follow your surgeons post operative instructions as he knows best.Best of luck.

Answer: Implant dropping Dear aggieen,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Answer: Will my implants drop and my tuberous breasts look normal? It is only a week so you need to be patient. The main concern with tuberous breasts is that the areolas are herniated (bulging out) and without an incision around the areola to reduce and flatten them, the nipples may remain pointy. The other concern is that the lower part of the breast is tight in a tuberous breast, which may limit the implants' ability to drop and settle into the rounded lower curvature of the breast at the right level. It is not unusual for implants to look a bit high in tuberous patients. Sometimes an anatomic implant may make more sense for these patients in order to avoid overly rounding the upper pole. For now, be patient, see your plastic surgeon regularly for followup and give time for the result to take shape. Down the road if your implants do not drop or you are concerned about nipple/areola shape/position, revision may be considered.

Answer: Early BA concerns Thank you for your question. You are in early healing phase. Your breasts will continue to change in the coming few weeks. Swelling go down and implants drop. Please follow instructions from your PS and re evaluate in 3-4 months.
