9 months after tummy tuck - Sore on epigastric area with ball feeling underneath skin.

Question

Hi, I had full tummy tuck last November. Recently, I have been feeling sore on my epigastric, even more sore when I touched it. It felt like ball underneath my skin. I went for ultrasound check, it showed blood flow in two areas. Then I went to see my plastic surgeon for examination. She felt it and said it’s suture. A I suppose to feel like this forever? It’s hurting and bothering me.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

If this is painful, your surgeon can make a small incision and remove the suture and excess scar tissue. Please go back and discuss this with her.

I encourage you to return to your surgeon to discuss options if it is continuing to cause you discomfort.  Since it occurred so long after surgery it may improve, but if not you will need to work with your surgeon for the best resolution based on her assessment.
