Hi! I’ve had lip filler in the past and would like to get it again. I’m currently breastfeeding and have been given the okay by my dermatologist. I read that Juvederm contains trace amounts of unreacted BDDE in the final product. I’m curious how quickly the residual unreacted BDDE would breakdown and metabolize after injection? If I decide to pump and dump to reduce likelihood of any BDDE getting into the milk. Thanks so much!

Answer: Lip Filler and Breastfeeding: Understanding BDDE Breakdown and Safety Considerations
Injecting lip filler has an art aspect to it. You want the lips to be aesthetically pleasing but also to be harmonious with the rest of your facial features. You can have filler only in the top if you'd like, but your injector may see areas that would benefit from a little filler on the bottom...
Minimal swelling can occur months after filler injections for several reasons including diet, hydration status, allergies, etc. If it becomes severe or problematic it's best to have it evaluated. If you are wanting a little more filler it is fine to proceed at any time.
Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photos. Yes, the bluish purple discoloration could be filler too superficially injected (Tynall Effect). See an experienced injector for evaluation and possible treatment. If it’s filler, it can be dissolved with Vitrase.
Good luck!
