I want to get lip fillers done because my upper lip is way smaller than my lower lip. The part that bothers me is my side profile. My upper lip looks so small and my lower looks huge. it looks uneven. My injector plans to use juvaderm ultra to mainly enhance the top lip but also a tiny bit in the lower to keep the golden ratio of lips. Shouldn’t I only get the filler in the top lip since this is the concern? My bottom is full enough.

Answer: Balancing Lip Proportions with Fillers: Expert Advice Hello, Thank you for your question and for sharing your concerns about lip fillers. It's understandable that you want to achieve a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing look. When considering lip fillers, it's important to maintain the natural proportions and harmony of your face. The "golden ratio" you mentioned is a guideline that helps ensure the lips look balanced and natural. Typically, the ideal ratio is where the bottom lip is slightly fuller than the top lip, often described as a 1:1.6 ratio. While it might seem logical to only add filler to the top lip to balance the size, a skilled injector may recommend adding a small amount to the lower lip as well. This can help maintain the natural proportions and ensure that the overall appearance remains harmonious. Adding a tiny amount to the lower lip can also help avoid an exaggerated look where the top lip might appear too prominent compared to the lower lip. It's great that your injector plans to mainly enhance the top lip while adding just a bit to the lower lip. This approach can help achieve a more balanced and natural look from both the front and side profiles. Ultimately, it's important to trust your injector's expertise and communicate your concerns and desired outcomes clearly. A thorough consultation and a tailored approach will help you achieve the most satisfying results.
