I have had blood in my urine a few times since having CoolSculpting. Do you know why?

Dear Sound Girl,
Your condition is called "hematuria." In a female, there can be mulitple causes for this. Kidney stones and urinary infections can do this. Your hematuria is not related to coolsculpting, as there is no real way from a physiological standpoint that coolsculpting would cause this. I would encourage you to see your internist for a workup. A urine sample, basic blood tests, and possibly imaging of the kidneys and bladder would be what I would recommend. Hope this helps.

 This occurrence has not been linked to Coolsculpting and it is practically impossible to have connections since coolsculpting works on the principle of suction and freezing fat cells. It does not penetrate deeper and it can not affect kidneys. I advise you to make an appointment with your physician and try to find root to this problem. Best of luck!

Dear Sound Girl: Hematuria or blood in the urine may be cause by many concerns but CoolSculpting is not one of them. Visible or microscopic blood in the urine is not normal and requires a medical work-up. Any portion of the urinary system by leak blood cells from trauma, infection or tumor from the urethra to the kidney. Please seek the expertise of your urologist, gynecologist or primary care physician to identify its cause and arrange proper care for yourself and the others people you speak of.      I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but I completely agree with the other physicians. There is no relation (that is known) between Coolsculpting and seeing blood in your urine. I would 100% recommend seeing you Primary Care Physician to rule out other medical conditions. Maybe we can put a good word in at Zeltiq for the scientists to look into this though :) 

If you have blood in your urine this is not related to Coolsculpting . Please seek your primary care physician for a proper work up of the underlying cause 

Because Coolsculpting has no effect on the kidneys I would encourage you to consult a nephrologist or a urologist to see why you have blood in the urine.  Coolsculpting does not cause those types of side effects. Best, Dr. Green

The fat that is removed through normal processes and dealt with by the liver.  The kidneys and the urinary tract should not have blood within the system based on a treatment.  A flank treatment should not disrupt or cause an injury to the kidney.
