I quit smoking 10/26/15 and bc I did use to smoke I'm concerned about skin necrosis. I did ask my doctor but he didn't seem too concerned about it & said I've already done everything I could do by not smoking. Is there anything I can do further to lower the risks such as vitamins, etc? what exactly is the percentage or average of past smokers getting skin necrosis (like 1 in 10 or 2% out of 118,000). Any insight would greatly be appreciated!

Answer: The risk of skin necrosis from abdominoplasty is hiring active smokers but not former smokers.
I advise my patients to ambulate several times a day post operatively, concentrate on deep breathing, and move the lower extremities hourly while sitting/reclined. Best wishes.
SO long as you document you are not still pregnant and document that there are no retained "products of conception", that would be plenty of time without concern so long as everything else is ready as well.
I recommend contacting your insurance carrier to find plastic surgeons who are in your network. Please note the insurance will only cover the hernia repair portion. The breast augmentation and tummy tuck are considered cosmetic and will not be covered by insurance.
